Hey guys,

So just completed my first full custom water loop, system works great! I'm getting amazing frames per second and my temps seemed relatively normal.

My set-up is;

i7 4790k @4.4ghz

Asus Maximus VII ranger

8GB corsair vengeance pro Ram

Asus GTX980 (reference PCB)

XSPC CPU and GPU blocks

XSPC Photon 270mm D5 Combo pump/res
1 x 360mm radiator

1 x 240mm radiator

I have been using HWmonitor to measure temps, both before water-cooled loop was installed and now that the loop is in, I didn't think anything of the temps I was getting. Idle temps have been around 35-40c for CPU and GPU (ambient temps where I live are 32-38c). during load the hottest CPU core peaks at 65c.. However HWmonitor reports GPU temps of up to 83c

I thought that was a bit high, so I tried MSI afterburner, it reports a maximum temps of 65c CPU and 67c for the GPU (much closer to what I was expecting). Is HWmonitor wrong? or is MSI afterburner wrong? what other software is there to test system temps?

Thanks in advance for the help.

It seems like HW monitor is misinterpreting what the actual sensors say.
