The focus on my build was the Corsair 760T case in Arctic white. It's the best looking case IMO. When I started planning this build I was wanting the build to be blue, but I find my self loving the way the Krait Edition motherboard looks so that is still up in the air.

My location is the US. I plan to run triple displays (two monitors and a 42" TV) I do alot of multi tasking on my pc, often playing games on one monitor surfing on another while playing media of some type on my TV. I'm one of those tab fiends with anywhere from  10-25 tabs open in each browser window, and 2 or 3 windows open at a time. As far as gaming goes I typically play LoL, I have Skyrim, but playing on my current PC is more frustrating than fun so I haven't touched the game since I installed it. I'm also planning on running emulators on my pc, as well as open source games like Mugen, StepMania, Osu and the like. I want this to be the only PC I will need , if possible, for the next 10 years or so. I've only bought prebuilt PC's before with my current rig being a gateway DX series I bought 3 years ago, it has a Core i3 530, a 350watt psu, 3 Hard drives (1 1TB, 2 500GB) and an EVGA GTX 550Ti, however with that graphics card I had to disconnect one of my hard drives and my optical drive to power the 550. I'm trying to keep the build under $1500 USD, and would like to avoid recycling parts from my gateway outside the HDD as I plan to just give it to my little brother.

All feedback is welcomed

***UPDATE***

So, as mentioned before, I wasn't sure what motherboard I wanted to go with, however since posting this, I have looked through every Z97 Motherboard available, as well as a couple of Z87s. and after many hours spent searching, I decided on an ASUS Z97-AR. I have received both the CPU (4790k) and the Z97-AR, I must say, the Z97-AR Motherboard looks amazing, really happy with it so far.

Nice Build, I would go with an Asus Board. Also if you are doing a 3 monitor setup including a 42 inch tv, than I recommend looking at a SLI or Cross Fire solution on your GPUs. If you have questions you can post on the forum or PM me for my opinions.

I will question some of your choices. First, you really can't expect a PC to last 10 years. GPUs have a lifetime of about 2~3 years, which can extend to 5~6 if you are willing to lower settings. The CPU has around 5 years of life as well. Things become obsolete way too fast.

That said, I question some of your choices:

  1. The CPU Cooler. My suggestion is the Raijintek Triton. It doesn't show on partpicker, but Newegg has them for 99$. It has a much better performance, and it's also one of the best looking CPU coolers out there. In fact, you could even use it for custom loop, if you ever feel the desire to have one, so that's one part that you could re-use in a future build.
  2. The CPU itself. It seems that you wouldn't really take advantage of a 4790k; the 4690k would do just as fine. By the time games will actually require all those threads, the CPU would be too weak anyway.
  3. The GPU brand. The Asus Strix, for the price, is currently the best choice. It has the 0db feature, it's one of the quietest under load, and it doesn't have that CPU cooler design problem. I mean, nothing wrong with EVGA, but they really screwed up the 970 series.

Thanks, I've really put a lot of thought into it, and I originally intended to go with an ASUS board but I really wanted a blue build, and ASUS doesn't have any blue boards that I could find

Yea I just like ASUS and would compromise. @Imakuni , He has a nice cooler and build, an i7 is perfect and worth it. Those monitor are going to push on the applications and he needs that kind of power.

Yup, his cooler is nice. But he can get a better product for cheaper. I needed to point that out.

And I really don't see how is the i7 worth it. Multimonitor setups really don't push the CPU. If he said "I'll be streaming" or "I wanna video render", then by all means go for it. But from what he described, it seems he wouldn't benefit that much from the i7.

When an application has to scale and then that application has to run at that, it can cause cpu pushing. Not much but some. If his budget allows it, then he should do it. I still prefer any corsair cooler

1. I chose the CPU cooler more because of the included blue rings so it was more aesthetics than anything

2. As far as the CPU, as mentioned I do own alot of media files, and the part i left out (sorry) is I plan to start doing some video editing, nothing too intensive but more just wanted the breathing room, the 4690k was the original plan, but then I got my tax refund and was like YOLO

3. I went with EVGA  because of the blue accents to it, i wanted a 970 with blue on it and it came down to EVGA or MSI, EVGA was I think $30 less

  1. And? The Raijintek Triton has blue water. Or red. Or green. Or even crystal clear. You can match your build in any way you'd like.
  2. Oh... ok.
  3. I guess if you want a blue accent, the Gigabyte G1 Gaming would be awesome for you. Best OC, temps, and has a backplate, as well as the coveted blue LED.
