So, i'm planning to do a custom water cooling loop for my 3570k so I can overclock and keep it cool and stuff. I want to do a custom loop because it looks awesome and i'd like to learn how to. How much would it cost UK wise, and is there any tips, tricks, do's and don'ts in water cooling? I just wana learn as much as I can before I start my IT course, just because I love hardware.

It can cost as much as you can pay, but usually it costs around £600 or a lot more or less

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

So a custom water loop on a cpu costs more than a 780? o.o

You can also start of using an aio water cooler like the swiftech h220 which you can customize.

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K 4,6GHZ OC MB: MSI Mpower z77  RAM: Kingston Genesis 1600Mhz CL9 16GB

GPU: ASUS R9 290 Direct CUII  PSU: Corsair AX 860

You'd be better off with a full custom loop.

On a CPU only? I didn't catch that if you said that in the main post. It should cost ~£350 - £400

If you just want to do the CPU only it shouldn't cost a lot. All you need is a CPU block, Radiator (240mm-360mm), fittings (Compression or Barb with clamps), Pump/Reservoir combo (or Pump and separate Reservoir), and some tubing that matches the ID and OD of your fittings. You need two fittings for each thing unless you're going with a Pump/Res combo then you'll only need 2 fittings instead of 4.

custom loop is't that hard just remember to flush the radiator from solder flux or it create big mess to clean up.

I would also advice to stay away from UV dye's go for UV tubing instead if you want UV that badly.

Its pain to clean up and you bassicly need to do a maintaince every 6 month instead of every 12 month's due gunk.

Anyway probably cost is about 480€ more or less 380€ without taxes

that includes 8 fittings 3 meter tubing

a 360 radiator

780 block

a cpu block

a d5 top bay reservoir

8 fittings

ofcourse you would still need to pick out fans

Well I gotta disagree with you about the UV dye. It looks amazing LOL.

Also, he's doing CPU only loop so he doesn't need a block for the GPU.

Its a pain in the ass to clean up as first timer you better off not touching uv dye untill build up some more experience.

but personaly i would go for UV tubing which far better alternative anyway.

Without gpu block it would just be like 120€ less

What makes it hard to clean up? Are you talking about the buildup in the blocks and radiator?

when i had red UV dye it would gunk up in a day water flow would reduce more and more

What brand did you use? Did you use dye, coolant, or a concentrated mix? I use just the dye from Mayhems and I haven't had a problem with it. I just filled the loop, got all the air out, then put a few drops in at a time till I got the desired color.

I used Mayhems Pastel dye and had a problem with it gunking my stuff up after a few days. It was just so thick!

ALL UV dyes can and WILL stain tubing.

Yes but I still have about 6ft of spare tubing left over. I'll replace all of it first before I ever try cleaning it. It's easier to pay $15-$20 for new tubing then spending hours trying to make it look newish again.

True... How much tubing did your whole rig have? I am planning to buy 20" just in case...

Hard to say since I ran into complications and miscut a lot of tubing. I ended up switching stuff around after I had already cut the tubing so I probably wasted about 3 feet lol.

I'd say I only used about 4-5 feet of actual tubing but that's just an estimate.

It also doesn't help that my drain tube is about a foot lol. Probably end up moving the T-line to somewhere else since it doesn't drain for crap by the graphics card.
