My cousin was looking into buying a Mac Pro, but then he asked me if I could build him one that is better. I said yes, and mine will be WAY better and also WAY cheaper to. So I just want to know if all these parts are compatible with OSX, and if you think this works as a Mac Pro, "Killer".

why dual 970s? A 980 would probably be better. Then you could even sli 980s in the future if you want.

Cheaper and better performance for the money, this is a productivity Mac, not a gaming machine

you will get some shit for saying a 980 is better than 2 x 970's however i agree that he should get a 980 so he could add another in the future

Yes I know. I for one would much rather get a 980 then another in the future instead of 2 970s outright

Yea same i agree then you can add more 980's

If it's not a gaming machine, why bother getting gaming grade GPUs in the first place? Why not Quadros? At least the Mac has FirePros, so it's workstation-grade as opposed to gaming-grade.

How good or poorly is the nvidia cards support in OSX?

Is tonymacx86 site not useful for compatibility questions? Or is that place junk?

They're the best, as they're super specialized. I do a lot of lurking there.

But they take a while to get back to you as they are a bit of a smaller community.

I love it there. It's what LTT isn't; helpful

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

@ANewFace,

It is actually difficult to do much better than the Mac Pro. One issue with DIY builds is the ECC memory used by the Mac Pro.

Why does the build have two ssd?

The Mac Pro has dual band a/b/g/n/ac WiFi & Bluetooth 4.0; Thunderbolt ports; and dual gigabit Ethernet ports.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
