GPU upgrade for rig

Go to solution Solved by 042,

GTX 960 or R9 280X

Yeah these would be 2 good choices. Thanks

I'd go with GTX 770. But R9 seems nice. 7950 Consumes alot of power... most 7000 series consumes alot of power also especially 7990

Nvidia seem to be doing well these days so I might consider a 960 or 770. thanks.

@042 This is the best option.

Dont go for 2GB of VRAM unless you want to reduce settings heavily , no need for that.

Did not see this, I might look into that one thanks.

Ok I want to buy a new GPU for my rig

Current Specs:

AMD Phenom II x6 1090t @ 4ghz

Noctua NH-D14

Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5

Corsair Vengeance 8gb ram kit

AMD HD 5770

CM 750w psu

Constraints:

- It needs to be able to play CSGO properly

- It needs to be able to play GTA V without lag (Current GPU won't play it on lowest according to specs)

- It needs to run at decent temps not like this card idling at 50 degrees and 70-80 on load

- It needs to be under $200 AUD ($250 at maximum)

I will be purchasing from PC Case Gear unless someone finds it cheaper in Aus

These are my current choices but I am open to other choices

Nvidia: GTX 960, GTX 770

AMD: r9 280, 270x, 7950
