For me, nothing's wrong with the build. Adding SSD would be better.

So this is what you recommend to put on a PC that is going to be overclocked and pretty much being put to its limits. I'm mostly going to be gaming in 1080p not really 4k.

Take a look at the Asus Z97-E motherboard. Very similar features to the Z97-A at a lower cost.

XFX P1-550B-BEFX, Antec HCG-620M, or SeaSonic SSR-550RM would be better psu choices.

Consider an air tower cpu cooler like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO or Noctua NH-U12S.

If you can fit it into the budget add a 120+GB ssd.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Well, I see you've got $1500 for the budget.

If you're mainly gonna be gaming then get the i5 - They over-clock the same and the hyperthreading of the i7 doesn't do much for games as they are mainly a single core process anyway.

Personally I'd go for a high-end air cooler over a AIO liquid cooler. Performance is the same and air coolers are cheaper and quieter not to mention fewer points of failure. I'd opt for something like the noctua NH-D15. The money saved from going i5 instead of i7 and air cooler instead of AIO liquid can get you a pretty nice SSD for the OS which will make a huge difference!

Good build, but you should really try to add an SSD given you have such nice hardware in that

“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!”

- Cave Johnson, founder and CEO of Aperture Science, in Portal 2

If something's wrong let me know.

This is a solid build for your budget except I would go for a different PSU.

If you REALLY wanted to save money there are a couple things you could change.

-You could swap the CPU to a i5-4690k. There is very little difference between an 4690k vs 4790k for gaming.

-You could go with 8 gigs of ram instead of 16gb. Again there is no difference when it comes to gaming.

-You could go with an Evo212 cooler and still get a decent OC.

-You could go with a gtx 970 instead of a 980, and still have very decent performance especially if your only on 1080p.

That being said, this build still fits well within your budget and gives you more headroom if you wanted to do some streaming/rendering/editing.

Even better. I'm not going to be streaming or recording. Just straight gaming
