Internet connection "stuttering"

Go to solution Solved by insayan,

Did you buy the router or was it supplied by you ISP? If its the latter you should contact them and tell them you're experiencing packet loss.

Over the last couple days i've been having an issue with my connection timing out for short periods of time. I first started noticing in games like Dota2 and Dayz, and then later checked with the windows ping command.

A few days ago, I did an overall update of my PC with windows updates, graphics drivers, and several drivers through gigabyte.

A few of the things i've tried so far include

Clean install of graphic drivers

Reset router

Reinstalled (both old and new) intel network drivers

I've had nothing work, and it seems to come and go in severity, during one part of the day it will be a constant issue, and at other times it is barely noticeable.

Any suggestions?

Did you test for packet loss? You can test this by opening command prompt and type in ping gateway -t where you replace gateway with the ip of your router. After a few minutes press ctrl+c, you should see if there were any packets lost.

packet loss was 4, the same amount of connection time outs.

How are you connected to your router, wifi or cable?

using a cable

Any chance the cable or the connectors are damaged?

They hadn't been bothered recently prior to the issues starting, i'll have to pick up another cable later to check

Are there any other computers connected? You could see if there's any packet loss as well, if there is the loss is caused by the router.

My ISP only provides a modem. I'll try picking up another router unless theres something besides resetting I can try. I'll post back here if it works
