Somebody asked me which is better out of these for regular surfing/media use ...which one would you choose?

I'm leaning towards the Dell just because of the touchscreen but I'm not too sure.

I'm also open to other suggestions in the $700 USD price range. I would prefer something with a 1080 or 900p resolution screen with at least a SSD cache option but I'm not sure if any exist(or if there are any deals out there) in the $700ish price point.

How is the quality of HP these days compared to Dell?

I would say go with the Dell laptop because it has a touchscreen and for windows 8 a touch screen is pretty much needed to work through the OS fluidly.
