This isn't like a PSU or Motherboard. the cheapest 970 will still be better then the best 960. They'll still work, you just lack some stuff and OC potential.

yes. 970 is still 970 the diffrence is other cooling and higher clocks speed

The gtx 970 is basically as fast as two gtx 960s. No matter how much you overclock the 960 it won't reach gtx 970 performance. Gtx 970 for sure.

Well yeah the g1 has a sexy cooler, but Temperatures and looks that you probably don't see unless you have a nice case to show off the part. the Gtx 970 will probably be a clear winner
