can you repair windows from having missing/corrupt stuff that is essential with a windows 7 with a windows 7 CD or thumb drive? 

When you insert the disk/usb, boot from cd/usb and then there will be an option for you to repair.

you'll lose whatever files are on your drive though.

 

there are 2 options for repair. one is ® soon after the disc spins up the other is like a reformat but you get options to keep files intact. ........... ??

A normal repair won't make you lose files, if you do a re installation you'll only lose files if you chose to format the drive, otherwise you'll have a folder called windows.old with your old files in.

WTF did I say?

You said one is ® and that the other one is like a reformat, the first statement you made doesn't make sense and a repair is nothing like a reformat at all.

thr first option ® never works........... the second option......... if you run it further is like a reformat........... but you come to a point where you either reformat or do a "repair" install and you have the option to leave the current files intact.......... that's what comes up for me.

 

 

i don't know why ® comes up[ like that ..... should be "R"... for repair.
