So for a couple of weeks my PC has been booting really slow and sometimes wont boot into windows. I have been taking out all cables (except power) then it would boot up fast. I have figured out that's its the Ethernet cable, when all my usual USBs and cables are plugged in it boots up fast but when the Ethernet is plugged it boots slow, anyone had the same problem? Any fixes?

Check that network boot is disabled in the BIOS, and that the network adapter is at the bottom of the boot order. If it's getting partially into Windows, that's really weird.

Try disabling network booting first. If you can consistantly (like 9/10 times) get the computer to boot ONLY when the ethernet cable is unplugged, then try a new ethernet cable and port on the router. If it still happens, you might have a failing NIC on the motherboard. If you've got an open PCI or PCIE slot, NCIX, Newegg, and the like should have Intel Gigabit cards for cheap.

Hey,

Disable all other boot options that the one you want in the BIOS as mentioned above then go into your start up options:

Windows 8.... task manager > start up tab

Windows 7, run msconfig > start up tab

From here disable any additional programs that are not needed at boot... skype and other time wasters.

That should speed things up a little too.

Ed
