Hello,

So I recently decided that I plan on upgrading my PC Components after having it for 3+ years. Currently I am running some HP stock motherboard with a AMD 6100 six core processor, 10GB of HP generic ram, AMD radeon HD 7770 Graphics card, and a corsair 600w PSU all in a Corsair 500r case.

I have a black and white color scheme going for the build considering I plan on reusing my Corsair case which is black and white. to start i plan on getting the MSI 797s Krait Edition Mother board LGA 1150. After looking around for quite a bit this was the only black and white motherboard I could find with out having to DIY paint it (which I dont really know how to do).

So then I decided to put my big boy pants on and decide that i want a I7 4790k processor. One big thing I am worried about this is the power consumption(will i have to get a bigger power supply?) and if the motherboard can handle it? I know that the processor will fit into the motherboard since it is still a LGA 1150 processor.

Next I plan on going back to corsair in which I plan on getting Corsair vengence pro 16GB. Again it all goes down if the motherboard can handle it, I know that the motherboard can handle up to 32 gb of ram and that the ram is DIMM DDR3 so all is good there.

This is as far as I have gotten with this in which I plan on ordering everything separately so that I don't go broke all at one time.

What is everyone's take on this? I appreciate all feedback and help!

Your upgrade is a good one. Your system upgrade includes a 600 watt power supply, which is plenty for many builds (including yours) plus corsair's rock solid efficiency and reliability. Intel processors are getting a lot more efficient, which will also help, and the HD 7770 is not super power hungry. This isn't a ton of power, and 600 watts will be plenty. If you are still not sure, then use this power calculator from Cooler Master. http://coolermaster.outervision.com/poc.jsp

I hope this helps you with your upgrade!

get i7-4790k, kraith motherboard, re-use old ram (ram wont impact performance) and with the rest go balls out on gpu and gtet r9 290X, gtx 970 or gtx 780ti or any other ''high end'' card you can find at good price and call it a day ;)
