Hey guys, I just installed my SSD with my HDD. My SSD is my boot drive and my HDD is my storage drive, The only thing I really want on my SSD is my OS and a couple of games. But as far as drivers go, can those be installed on the storage drive or do they have to be installed on the boot drive? So for example, I have an R9 280. Can those drivers be installed on the HDD storage drive, or do they have to be installed on the SSD where the operating system is? Thanks a lot for your help guys!

Hey namarino,

I would recommend installing the drivers on the boot drive for better communication with the OS files. It is possible to install them but there might be a chance of file corruption and system crash. I would stick to the default installation place. What HDD are you using?

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I'm using a WD blue. The problem is that my SSD is only 120GB....haha Could I fill up 120 gigs with just the OS and drivers?? I'm thinking not but what do you think?

My Samsung 120 GB EVO filled with Windows 8.1 OS + Chrome + Firefox + Driver + etc

Still has 70 GB left

Try to reduce the System Restore Usage and disable Hibernation ?

To be honest, I am currently using WD Black2 which has a 120GB SSD. I have my OS, drivers, updates, MS Office, World Of Warcraft, League of Legends and a couple more small games as well as a couple of programs and still manage to have enough free space for the SSD to operate at optimal speeds. You can always reallocate the pagefile to the HDD to save a couple of GB for better performance. :)
