Hey guys,

I i just finished building my mom a new PC and ive ran into an issue i cant seem to solve..

I built the PC and went into the UEFI bios on the AS rock MB i got and made sure all the ram and HDD/SSD was detected and there seemed to be no issue.  When i started the computer with the old HDD(from the old compiter with all her files on it) i got a an error asking if i wanted to repair windows or start normally.

I did the repair to see what was wrong, and i forgot to wright the exact error down but it said some thing along the lines of a hardware change and it couldnt fix anything.  After this i tried to start normally and it started then just restarted and brought me back to choose to test or start normally. when i choose to start normally it loads to almost gets to the point where the Windows logo is formed then the PC restarts.  So i stuck the HDD back into the old computer and booted it and there was no issue at all..

IDK if this is windows not liking a new motherboard and stuff or what..

What advise can you give me?

In the NEW PC i have: (also please dont tell me thats its overkill because its what my mother wanted and it was all in her budget)

The only difference is the ram, we got 2x4gb of the same stuff

THANKS!!!

Happened to me before. I took my hard drive from my old computer and it gave me a BSOD on boot up.

The solution was to reinstall Windows. Since my new mobo only supported UEFI and no legacy bios, I had to format the HDD to GPT. The old MBR was not compatible hence the BSOD.

BTW, where is your GPU in your parts list?

well crap, the BIOS is probably the issue, i just dont want to format the HDD untill im certian that all the improtant files are off of it.  Also she probably wont need a GPU as she doesnt game.

Thanks BTW!!!!

Its the only solution I came up with (and tested) that worked. Save your files and do what I said above.
