Does anybody have experience with these units? I had one selected on my partpicker build but was told that they can be unreliable and shut off.
If this is the case can anybody recommend me an alternative, I really liked the aesthetics of the cables on the supernova (red and black build).

Thanks for any advice

They aren't fantastic as a whole. They're great in every area except one of the most important ones which is 12V voltage regulation.

Get a SuperNOVA G2 if you have the budget. EVGA 500B is also decent. Seasonic M12II or S12II are also good, cheaper choices.

Titan: Intel Core i7-5820K | ASUS X99-A | Crucial Ballistix Sport 4x4GB DDR4-2400 | ASUS Strix GeForce GTX 970 | OCZ Arc 100 2x256GB in RAID 0 | Seagate Barracuda 2x2TB in RAID 1

EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 | Fractal Design Define R5 Titanium Window | Phanteks PH-TC14PE | ASUS BW-12B1ST

I used a Supernova NEX650g 650w for almost a year with my system (4670k @ 4.4GHz, 2x EVGA GTX 760's etc - OC'ing both 760's pushed it to the limit under full load so left them stock) and it was great. No issues whatsoever. Only swapped it out for an 850 G2 for overclocking headroom/reduced noise with the Eco mode.

Never say it's not broken. Everything is broken. Why? Because everything needs MOAR POWA!
