Go to solution Solved by Juan Remes,

Well, you guessed it correctly, try with another PSU

Hey all, I'm setting up a pc for school and i was blocked by a problem..

When i was installing the 24-pin connector for the motherboard i need to set it at an angle because otherwise nothing will spin.

and if i hold it at an angle it just gives bursts: Fan on, off on off on off.

Help please?

Please, follow your own posts and mention me in comments, otherwise i won't be able to help you.

First, test the psu on its own. Make sure the switch is off. Short the green wire of the 24 pin connector with one of the black wires directly next to the green wire. http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-power-up-an-ATX-Power-Supply-without-a-PC/

Then, turn the switch on. the PSU's fan should spin continually. The only instance when this won't be the case is if you have one of the latests PSU that don't make the fan spin until a certain temperature or load. The other instance when the fan won't spin is you have a dead PSU or some kind of defect.

If the fan spin continually, that only says that the PSU is not dead. It doesn't say anything about the voltage of each pin in each connector. If you have a multimeter you can take the voltage of each pin just to make sure it's correct.

Before doing that though, I would make sure the PSU's fan spins correctly and secondly, make sure the 24 pin connector and the motherboard's connector aren't damaged. Make sure they are seated properly when you connect them. You might have to take out the motherboard to have a correct view of this.
