I plugged in a second monitor.. now the clock is always at max. temp is always @ 50°C, goes to 65 max while playing csgo. so it's not a dire situation.

I'm just wondering if it happened to anyone else and how they fixed it.

I could troubleshoot, but cba.

nvidia control pannel says power option is set to adaptive not performance. so it should be idling when I'm on the desktop.

anyway it's no big deal, just a little annoying to have the fan speed at 50% because the card won't idle.

Manually tweak the settings or try using a diff. monitor/display cable?

My life is consumed by CS:GO, even though I'm not exceptionally good at it.
