So I'm just about ready to order the parts for my first PC and I couldn't be more excited. I've already decided on dual 980's in SLI and dual 1440p screens. This things gonna be a beast.

Anyway, I have obviously thrown air cooling out the window as an option cause it sucks. I will have to go with water cooling. However, I am afraid of leaks so I was wondering if there were any alternative options.

Are there any waterproof Components for a computer or some type of material that could cover all the compnents so I could just fill the case up with distilled water.

Obviously the case would have to be optimized for this. I figure things would be a lot cooler and safer if the whole conputer was submerged under water or coolant of some type.

I am sorry, but the line, "Anyway, I have obviously thrown air cooling out the window as an option cause it sucks. I will have to go with water cooling." seems like a troll. Based on what you have said earlier (in a topic regarding the GTX 990), it seems you still haven't done research. Water cooling barely has any effect on performance. Waterproof components do not and will not for the foreseeable future exist as they would not be needed. Air cooling is easier, has performance within about 5-10% of water cooling, and it is not a hassle to work with. The quote " I figure things would be a lot cooler and safer if the whole computer was submerged under water or coolant of some type." is clearly a troll. If it is not, I encourage you do your research and these things out prior to doing water cooling, or any build for that matter.

This forum is so hostile. Can my question at least be answersd I'm sure someone knows.

Hostile? Who in their right mind would think of submerging a PC in WATER?? For the love of god, it is conductive and will kill your PC immediatelly.

Plus, there are NOT and will not be waterproof components... watch YouTube Videos on liquid cooling, do Research and then you wont be met with "hostile" replies

Ok so hypothetically someone gave you $10,000 to buy a supercomputer what would do to cool it and keep it future proof. Air or liquid cooling and what kind.

Depends on what are you planing to do with the PC... if it is just gaming then air cooling will be enough, if you dont want sky-high overclocking. And for a first time builder a custom watercooling loop can be quite difficult. I have been building PCs for year and still dont want to do custom loops. For Starters, I have a Kraken X61, it is a pre-filled all-in-one liquid cooler for the CPU, you can check it out in my build log (link in my signature). But for normal tasks an air cooler like the Hyper 212 EVO can be enough.

P.S.: Quote people, so we can see notifications of your reply ;)

Yeah but air cooling seems like it would be quite loud. Disregarding money, what is the quietest and coolest method of cooling a PC.

It can be loud, but not if you use silent fans :) there are many options in choosing silent fans to suit everyones needs.

The quietest and coolest is liquid cooling, but it comes at a very high price compared to air cooling and has the danger of leaking, thus damaging your PC, or worse, completely killing it.

But liquid cooling can be loud too, because you have to use fans on the radiators and those can be loud, if not properly managed/undervolted, even the pump can be loud, some people are sensitive to that. Plus liquid cooling is more difficult on the maintenance side, you have to drain and clean the whole loop every 6 months or so. So yeah, this is a short opinion on the matter

air cooling will always be the better value. and that is what most are looking for

to spend the least and get the most. AIO cooling is a bit bigger in price point for

the smallish (if any) gain. custom cooling will always be the most expensive (for

smallish CPU cooling gains and big gains in cooling for the GPU). enthusiasts

use it for looks/styling, sub 1000 rpm fan speeds, best temperatures without

using sub-zero equipment.

throwing money at something usually doesn't fix an issue, but creates less of an

experience and more epeen.

There is no such thing as waterproof computer parts.. if you are afraid of leaks post the leak test, stick to air cooling!

The submerging you mean is probably with non conductive mineral oil.

Linus recently upped a series where they build one here:

its a mess though... and should really only be done if one doesnt care about maintenance and is ALL about that look.

airdeano really listed on how things are stacked. Especially for a first experience i would recommend air cooling, with nice silent fans.

if you really want to go for supersilence look at pages like http://www.silentpcreview.com/ they have guides on how to optimize for silence.

Cheers

So what is the nicest quality air cooling on the market. I don't care about cost.

And also what about the Kraken x61. Is that like pre done liquid cooling. It seems very easy to setup. Does that need to be maintained. Do I have to clean the Kraken out every six months. Also, does the kraken use water or coolant.

The Kraken X61 is a pre done cooler for the CPU. It is easy to setup, yeah. It does not have to be maintained like custom loops, just when you have the need to clean the radiator of dust, that is it :) The cooler itself cant be dissasembled, it is a closed loop.

As for the air cooler - try looking at the Noctua NH-D15, that is currently the best one at the market, but it is quite big also.
