Windows 7 GPU driver issue, nothing works.

A bit of backstory for this. Last night I went to bed having left the computer on, hadn't installed anything new to my knowledge, hadn't had any problems. Woke up this morning to my screens black, assumed the system had gone to sleep but had to head out quickly so no time to check it out. I came home today and woke it up, that is when my troubles started.

The desktop loaded up, started flickering (blinked about 4 times or so) before BSODing and restarting. This happened about 5 times. I decided to go into safe mode and check it out. No viruses, nothing different, system worked fine. Looked up the error message I was getting, said it was a GPU issue and to install the latest drivers. I did so, and it did nothing. I tried system restoring to a few days ago, problem persisted. I finally got fed up with this after 3 hours or trying things and talked to NVIDIA live chat, tried their solutions after explaining everything and nothing helped.

After giving up hope, I decided to try for a fresh install of Windows. I updated everything, then proceeded to install the GPU drivers..system works, but still completely useless. I get the following message every time I try loading up a game or when I reboot:

display driver stopped responding and has recovered display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 344.80 stopped responding and has been successfully recovered

I'm certain that version has changed multiple times, but I never paid attention. I've tried many different drivers, hotfixes, changed settings in NVIDIA CP, put my CPU back at stock speed, absolutely nothing works. Every time I just get this message, while the screen flickers a few times before giving me it. I have no idea what to do at this point. I'm honestly completely baffled here (a fresh windows install, there's no reason this should be an issue).

I'm running a gtx 760 from ASUS, asrock fatal1ty h87 MOBO Windows 7 Ultimate, and other specs that are listed on my profile. I'm not even sure what drivers are installed right now, last one I did was some hotfix on their forum that did nothing. Windows is completely up to date (it is genuine), so I have nothing to do in that regard.

At this point, I am hoping anyone here knows what I can do. I've spent the past 8 hours working on this with no progress, other than I can browse the web now. Any and all help is appreciated.

Try reseating the gpu as well as checking temps to make sure nothing is overheating.

I've made sure it is perfectly seated, and I cannot monitor the temps because it crashes when I put it under any small load. Idle it sits around 31c, but that's as far as I can monitor.
