Hey guys! My sister's PC has run into a very interesting issue.

It didn't start doing this until I removed Avast! antivirus from her PC a few months ago, due to it destroying her measly little dual core and making her completely unable to even open a text document while it automatically updated.

Anyway, after it was removed, any image that was appearing on the internet whether it be on know your meme or even youtube becomes corrupt like the GPU is artifacting. Even in chrome, firefox, and internet explorer. I had her switch to win8.1 for a while and the issue was completely gone, but nvidia doesn't have any fully released drivers for her GPU in 8.1 64-bit, so she was getting 2-3FPS in minecraft with her Geforce 7950GT.

It only appears to occur with windows 7. I have tried installing older versions of the driver as well.

What could be the cause of this? I could take images if needed.

Eric S. Raymond used an E6600 from 2005 until 12/30/14 or open source software creation. Raw data computations in excess of 18GB each. Core 2 Duos still have tons of life left, my friend.

I know! She was getting 45-50FPS at 1024x768 in windows 7!

What's funnier is she still gets it now, but web pages still bug the fuck out. Even when reverting to different GPU driver versions. Even at the ones I originally installed. I took a try at her wireless card, too. Still happening after updating the wireless card adapters. She has a Linksys AE6000.

Yes, I have. The issue still occurs, unfortunately. Even when installing on a different drive.

Maybe uninstalling Avast and the dying of her GPU are only a coincidence, sounds like its dying imo

One thing that windows 8 handles much better is screen resolutions(still far from perfect ), did you recently change that? The problem with this old of a card is that there is little info left on the internet, I can't even find the complete specs of this thing.

If it was my time spent trying to repair this thing I'd just buy some new $20-30 video card for her, but than again, saner minds prevail.

I'm afraid the GPU had a hard life and chose to let go. R.I.P. 7950GT. Good news is you can get a more capable card for 30 bucks.

The card is a BFG OC edition, 550 core. After a bit of research, I found a few things. Though the card is old, it's still kicking.

Here's what I found:

http://monroec.com/?p=668

Her network adapter is a little sketchy, though. I could hook it up via ethernet soon and see what happens, and if it loads properly via ethernet, then it's not the GPU.

If it fails to load properly, even with ethernet, then it's the GPU.

I appreciate the support you guys. I just want to find out any possible solutions before I just upright say it's the GPU, because it'd be easier to hook up the computer to ethernet than to up and spend $30 on a new GPU.

Edit: I have a dead Quadro GPU that I could try to resurrect.
