How to use fourm well?

I'm sort of new to posting on fourms I have only ever done so on like 4 or 5 occasions so i'm not very good at it and I like the layout but I don't fully understand how to use it.

Basically there are areas of a forum or categories and under each there are what are called sub forums. These are specialist things for example the forum catagory is Hardware and the sub forum is Motherboards - in there you will find content made up of threads which are like a message/topic and replies to those threads called posts.

To create a thread simply find the sub forum most relevant - eg you're looking for a new headset so go to audio and hit new thread. Enter a title, for example "New Headset" and then post your question. If you're looking for advice on a product(s) to purchase posting your location, budget, constraints (size, availability ect) will dramatically improve responses.

In the top right of the screen you'll find your username as well as notifications - these notifications show things such as quotes (where someone replies directly to a post you've made) or private messages (other users can message you personally). You'll also find under your username is the user control pannel or CP for short where you can edit personal information (location, age, avatar ect) and your settings such as password resets, email accounts ect.

You can combine them etc etc.

Theres no point telling you them all there as the are just tables of them if you google them.

Or just hit the advanced button and wait a second.... damn you vBulletin 4.0 or Slick/Linus - I don't know who to blame..
