I recently moved to an apartment in New Hampshire and I would like to use my Kill-A-Watt meter measure the power consumption of the air conditioner the apartment comes with. However, I ran into a problem:

I haven't seen this wall socket before. I assume it's a heavy-duty socket, but the only heavy-duty socket I've seen is the 5-20R which accepts the North American standard.

 

My question is, is there an adapter for this socket to a standard NA socket?

shouldn't that plug there still go in I'm not from America and have no idea how your plugs work but, that looks like the right shape to fit that plug.

It won't fit.

I know that plug will fit, it's the one that goes with it. I'm looking for an adapter to the standard North American socket.

why do you need an adapter to the regular socket that plug will fit, won't it so why would you need an adapter?

How would that work? If you got an adapter, and put your meter on it, wouldn't you not be able to plug the air conditioner into the kill-a-watt meter?

I would also need an adapter back to the regular socket, but it's unlikely that the adapter back exists.

Never mind, I found the specs for the AC. It's 13A at 240V for a total of 3.12 kW. I think I'm going to keep the AC on a lot less now.

 

This can be closed.

 

 

Why don't you just read the label on the AC unit.  It will tell you how much energy it draws.

those plugs usually mean 220volts only adapt to your kill a watt if it handles 220volts ... i have one of those for my air conditioning 

(1) high frame rate (2) ultra graphics settings (3) cheap...>> choose only two<<...

 

if it's never been done then i'm probably tryna do it. (((((((Bass so low it HERTZ)))))))
