overclocking a 4790k

Go to solution Solved by SeanBond,

Hi, I just started overclocking my 4790k and I was wondering what would be the maximum voltage that you guys would recommend? I got it stable at 4.7 GHz @1.35 volts but my 24/7 overclock is 4.5GHz@1.25 volts. Is 1.35 volts too much considering that under full load I only get about 65-70 C?

Anyway thanks for your help!

1.35v is a little on the high side and if you are an enthusiast and plan on upgrading in say 2-3 years it's perfectly fine. But don't go any higher.

@SeanBond what about a 2700k for daily use

1.3v to much?

That's about the as far as I would go myself, I am sure a bit more wouldn't harm it but I can't say I have had one of those processors.

what about a 2700k for daily use 1.3v to much?

sandy bridge had a 24/7 voltage of 1.4-1.45v with no degradation (assuming

you have adequate cooling).

ivy bridge had a 24/7 voltage of 1.35-1.4v with no degradation (again you

have adequate cooling).

haswell/devils canyon would be on the 1.25-1.3 for 24/7 with good cooling.

1.35v for that gotta have max FPS/performance

kinda seeing a pattern?
