Alright, so...

I kind-of cheaped out on the CPU cooler for my rig. I have a shitty Cooler Master X Dream 4, which isn't so great, but it did the job fine. However, I had been considering getting a Hyper 212 Evo. I was recently looking up more about the differences in these coolers, when I noticed something else: the X Dream 4 supposedly only handles CPUs up to 65W TDP, and I have an i5 4670k which is said to be 84W. So, I need some help, as I'm definitely not an expert with this aspect of my rig - does this matter that much and should I upgrade to something like the 212? If I go with the 212, the installation looks very different from the rather simplistic (four pins, cylindrical) X Dream 4, and I was wondering if it's enough of a far cry from the X Dream 4 that I should consider the space in my case or if I can even set it up on my mobo? I don't know much about CPU coolers but the 212 looks great and I want to make sure I can get it working fine, because I have a feeling I should be getting a better cooler anyway. Thanks for any help!

the CM Hyper 212 Evo is really quite good for its price tag. I have a friend who has one and even under intense gaming his temps never go above 50 degrees celcius. You shouldn't have a problem setting it up on your mobo.

You know that guy that games on a MacBook? I'm that guy.

That cooler you have at the minute doesn't look to much better than the stock cooler, I suggest if you have a bit of spare cash, that you upgrade

Nearly everything's compatible with the 212 Evo, so you shouldn't have any issues, although installation can get a bit fiddly (At least on AM3+)

Specs: CPU: AMD FX 6300 Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A DS3P RAM: HyperX Fury 16GB 1866MHz GPU: MSI R9 270 OC edition Case: Sharkoon VS3-S SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB HDD: 1TB Caviar Blue PSU: Corsair CX500W

I see. Well, you can see my specs in my signature, and I have an Intel processor so this should be easy?

I'd imagine it would be no more difficult than AM3+, since the mounting is almost the same (different screw positions on the backplate)

The best way to find out whether it will be easy or not would be to watch a video on the installation, at least that's the easiest for me

Personally, I only found the installation fiddly, but not hard as such. It just takes patience if you have very clumsy hands like me.
