Hello everyone,

I have been watching LTT videos for a few years now, and looking around on this forum here and there, I have finally decided to make an account and say hello.

Im from Australia, Im 30 and I was heavily involved with computers at a young age, built many systems and always upgraded parts when possiable. A few years back (like 4 or so) my system died that I had for many years and it was still working strong for an old system. I didnt have the money to replace everything as it was Motherboard,, that means new video ram etc etc.. So I got me a ASUS VX7 laptop... I DO NOT LIKE laptops, so I use it connected to a monitor and a kayboard and it never gets used as a laptop. years have gone by and I miss having a decent system and now Im older and I work and all the grown up stuff, I have decided to go all out.. and build a beast..

Here is the parts list.

Motherboard: ASUS Rampage V Exterme

CPU: Intel i7 5960X
GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 980 Strix 4gb x3

MEMORY: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16gb 3000Mhz x2 so 32gb total

PSU: Corsair AX1500i Titanium
Case: Corsair 900D

PCIE SSD: ASUS RAIDR 240GB

SSD: Corsair Neutron GTX 240GB x2

Monitor: ASUS PB287Q 28in 4K UHD

Cables: CableMod C-Series Black/Red

Sound: Corsair SP-2500

Fans 120mm: Corsair SP120 Performance PWM x 22

Fans 140mm: Corsair AF140 Quiet Edition High Flow x2

Lights: NZXT Sleeved LED Cable 200CM in red and also white

Mouse/Keyboard Mat: Corsair Gaming MM200

Mouse: Corsair M65

Keyboard: Corsair K70

If anyone can see anything wrong with anything I have picked up, please let me know, input would be great..

Oh yeah,, also got a 1800x900 motorised desk coming to raise and lower when needed.

Thanks everyone!

I think getting a 2-4 TB hard drive or having two 2 or 4 TB hard drives in RAID 1 would be a good idea so you could have some bulk storage (and having raid one would give you a backup copy of all your files incase one dies). I also think there are alternative options to SSDs which I think could be better and probably for not much more...

I imagine those 3 4K monitors are gonna be mega expensive (and so will the entire build in general be).

Do you have a PCPartPicker setup for this? It would make things a bit more easier to look at and compare with one of them. What are you gonna be using this for? Video editing? Rendering? Gaming? ALL?

Also is it true that things in Australia are even more expensive?

It's gonna be an epic build, maybe a tiny bit overkill in a way, but good luck. :)

(Followed by the way, wanna see where this goes!)

salecar3 - Dont need the storage, but its not exactly much more for them both.. so its there if I need it. Ill have 3 monitors, will eventually get a 3rd card. and I know I dont need 1500 but the price from the 1200 to the 1500 is not worth worrying about

xspacesheepy - I have 3 WD x 1tb drivers laying around and also 2 WD x 4 tb laying around that ill put in maybe... I also have a synology nas with 5 wd red pro nas x 6tbt. there prolly are alternatives, but I just like Corsair and ASUS lol,, been using them since way back. each monitor is $700 AUD, so not sure what thats like compared to where your from. No I dont have a PC part picker list, I had a look but no cooling stuff listed, other parts are but no point making one atm. Going to use it for gaming, racing sim, maybe some video editing.. not much. mostly gaming. ummm... Im not sure, i know we are more compared to USA.. but we have always been more, not sure compared to other countries. the whole build, including water cooling is about $13,000 AUD desk is another $900.. it is an over kill build, and very expensive, but I aint built a full crazy computer for a good 10-12 years, so I take it as the amount I have save by not upgrading all the time, its cost me less.

Hmmm.

I will not comment you choosing parts etc. I don't know much about computers(but I would aim for better cards, if your budget allows you)

I don't want to interrupt your insanity too. If you feel like playing and have the money, do it.

But careful with that, you just... you just simply might not enjoy it as much as you think you would(but if you design graphics etc. it's totally justified, so go for it)

And the money is crazy, you're not buying gold or uranium, it's price going to drop down heavily.

Auroenl- I choose these cards because if I got the ASUS Poseidon .. Im paying extra for a better looking card and better heatsink/fans, just to pull it off for water cooling blocks.. and there may be another card faster from evga or something.. but its ASUS I want.. and computers always drop in price... I know.. ill buy in today and in 2 months there will b something newer and better and faster out.. thats the computer world... I dont exactly have the money.. but spending it wont put me on the street or wreck my life. as I said.. pretty much just gaming.. even tho it is overkill by far.. it should b enough to run games for a few years b4 it starts to get dated...

Ok, I understand what you want to do.

Now understand me, you asked for advice, mine is different than the others.

If it's for gaming only - buy yourself Oregano, roll it, think about life, universe, your life, and ask yourself following questions:

"do I want to spend 12.000 dollars on entertainment?"

"Is this entertainment guaranteed?"

Here are places and things you can see for 12.000USD:

<2 weeks trips>

Easter Island 3000-4000 USD

Antarctica 5000-7000 USD / Kongo, Africa 2000-2500USD + Himalayas, India 2500-3000USD

Peru+Ayahuasca session with shaman: 2000-2500 USD

+ be tight with money and you can still buy decent i5/i7 computer.

In my opinion(I might be wrong), unless you're unreasonably rich it is a mistake. Also remeber, everything tasted good when we were young.

Only have 2 of the cards in atm, every game so fun runs at full 4k ultra settings but for project cars.

When i do finally do water cooling,, ill post some more up.

I did have a bunch of pics form tests results, dont know where they are now.. but everything scored high as, as u would expect. its all default, nothing over clocked. copying from the ssd raid to the pcie ssd starts at around 3.5gb a sec and slow down to about 800mb a sec.

if anyone wants to know something, ask.
