Digital Keyboard?

Go to solution Solved by Prastupok,

Wow thanks for the details. Does digital sound the same as real pianos do?

It sounds close.

Nothing can truly replicate the sound of something like a Steinway Grand... but the digital are pretty good especially for beginners. The Steinway we have in the studio costs about 100x more than that keyboard, so of course it's not as good

Any here familiar with digital keyboards? I don't know how to play a piano but I want to start learning how to play, and doing piano covers. How many keys should I get since they have 31, 61, and etc? Are digital keyboards a good way to start learning how to play a piano?

If you want it to be worth it, get an 88-key weighted action one. You want to get the closest you can to a true Piano. Go for one from Yamaha or Casio. They are affordable but still good quality.

88 key is full length.

@SYPH: Something like this would be good for a beginner who wants the real feel.

Modern digital keyboards come very close to standard pianos. Mind you, they can't replicate the sound perfectly. Just the way you finger the keys can make a difference.

You won't be able to play "Sonatas and Interludes" on it. OTOH the sound produced for 4'33" should sound exactly the same.

Digital makes up for it though, you can make sounds that you cannot make sounds that you cannot make on a piano. Some sounds for example trumpets, flutes steel drums, chimes, guitar, harp etc...
