Yes it charges for preorders upon check out.

I think they charge for it upon checkout but take the money when the game is released, given my card bill fro November due to Dragon Age

Waiting until the game is released to charge you would defeat the purpose of pushing pre-orders. They want you to be invested as early as possible.

that's how gamestop works. a preorder for most physical stores is more of a queue for who gets the games first. You don't pay for the game until it's in your hands. But I asked about origin because online stores are different
