Processor: AMD A8-6600K APU 3.9GHz

Memory: 4096MB RAM

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-F2A75M-HD2
Graphics: Radeon HD 7950 3GB

So I built this computer for my sister early last year and it worked for a while after initial building but then it started random shutdowns.
It started these shutdowns but we couldn't figure out the reason for them. At this point we had no graphics cards installed and she was just browsing the web and watching videos online, nothing harsh.
Whenever the computer randomly shut down I wasn't really there to see what happened but we never really noticed heat after an unexpected shutdown.
I have all the unexpected shutdown logs but have now idea how to read them or what they mean.
Recently i upgraded her computer from Windows 7 to 8.1 and installed the 7950 as she purchased The Sims 4 to play, and the computer shuts down around 10 to 15 minutes after playing the game.
I think this may be because of the installed drivers, because the catalyst omega driver install for the APU and the graphics card was kinda confusing.

what about the temps?

can you download speedfan or hwmonitor?

check the event viewer and see if anything critical pops up

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

CPU temps idle at around 50 then jump up to around 80-90 when I get into the game.

It shouldn't be getting this hot, the 7950 should be taking the biggest hit shouldn't it?

All critical events in the event viewer are just the "Windows has rebooted without shutting down cleanly"

Yeah it's a low cost aftermarket cooler.

Yeah it's the kernel power error.

Corsair VS 550

I looked at the gigabyte site and there is a bios update for the AMD APU's, it's on the oldest bios version right now so I'm going to update to the newest and see if this problem sorts itself out.

try the BIOS update first

if that fails

replace the PSU with a better one

the Corsair VS and GX PSU are really low end PSU similar to OEM PSU from HP,Acer etc.

for Cooler

look if you can get the CoolerMaster 212 Evo/Plus/Hyper

Update the bios, the cpu still gets to 110+ degrees c

http://www.arctic.ac/worldwide_en/alpine-64-plus.htmlI'm using this cooler

The graphics card is cold, around 20 degrees when I'm playing so the APU is obviously doing all the work.

Is there a way to get my graphics card to do the graphics processing? I don't understand

did you connect the display to the GPU?

in the BIOS make sure the PCI-E GPU is enabled

Connected to gpu, yes.

Yeah I went in and selected it.

I was told in HW Monitor that TMPin1 under temperatures was the CPU temp, though mine is saying -7 degrees celcius?

And the temperature under the CPU heading is spitting out 60's and 70's at idle.

Is it possible the sensor on my CPU is faulty and because it is reading so high it just forces the PC to shutdown?

HWMonitor does not report correct temps... Try Aida64...

also those shutdowns may have something to do with your graphics drivers (I experienced them before I got my 260X)...

For now, disable hardware acceleration in flash and test...
