Bootcamp Mac OSX 10.10.2

i am currently trying to install windows 8.1 on my mid 2013 macbook air and i get up to the part where i select what drive/partition to install it on and it say none of the are the right fomat and the format option is greyed out so it cant be selected. i have tried deleting the partition and it deleted successfully but bootcamp is taking forever to recreate the partition. i left it on for about an hour and it still said partitioning disk. anyway i can fix this? i have all the drivers needed on the usb with the os.
