I'm looking to make some reasonable upgrades to my current rig to get a little more performance out of it. This is what I've got so far:

Intel Core i7 950

Asus Sabertooth X58

MSI GeForce GTX 670 Power Edition

Mushkin Enhanced Silverline Stiletto 6GB DDR3 Triple Channel

Noctua NH-U12

Corsair AX850 PSU

WD RE4 1TB HDD x 2

Looking to spend up to $600 dollars Canadian for some performance boosts, as I need to reserve some money for a monitor upgrade (looking at a G-SYNC equipped monitor). What areas should I focus in on first?

Well, get 4790k with a decent z97 mobo and and aftermarket cooler :)

I also don't suggest G-sync monitor, wait for free sync :)

Also, after this, that to say when next gen comes out, you could upgrade your GPU :D

Well, the monitor is priority as I'm noticing the backlight is fading, and its over 4 years old. That gets priority.

Then get a normal one, G sync ones are too overpriced with how things are now :)

And for your next upgrade get a new GPU and RAM

Also, get an SSD as fast as you can!
