tor, vpn, proxy?!?!?

I know this is kind of an opinion question...but whats the way to go? I mean tor seems good (well maybe not actual tor, but the idea) but then again, you don't want to sign into any personal accounts (ex.email) on it right? so do you need a vpn for that? then do you run through a vpn and tor?!? I'm not getting it and I cant find a good source for info all in one place. its all bits and pieces and people trying to sell their service anyway. Also want to get into using torrents but wont even attempt until I get the security figured out. Let me know what you guys know/think and give me good resources if you have. d

We won't help you with illegal torrents, even though torrenting itself is legal, it's pretty obvious what you mean.

I personally use a VPN most of the time for streaming and P2P traffic because my ISP throttles that type of traffic at certain times. So Netflix for example doesn't get the full speed of my connection without a VPN ):

never said anything about illegal anything. just seems like the golden standard is people that would be downloading torrents. if they are trying to hide illegal activity it will be good enough for me to hide my personal info. I just don't like anyone, gov agencies or not, being able to look at stuff im doing. its principal. but at the same time I actually want to use the internet. otherwise I would never click the "i agree" box to anything and therefore not have anything on my pc!

so please, can someone who is well versed on this subject give me some resources or at least more than a half sentence
