Motherboard driver issue

Go to solution Solved by Juan Remes,

Without keyboard and mouse there is not much you can do, i would ensure that just the needed is connected, in other words, disconnect EVERYTHING and just plug in your power cord, mouse, keyboard, and display (remember, USB2.0 is better for compatibility)

If none of that works i would borrow or get a cheap PS2 mouse or KB and make sure the BIOS settings are well set, or you could try another USB KB and Mouse, if that doesnt solve it too then you might have a defective MB

Hello everyone.

-First: I want to say that I'm new to the whole 'Forumworld' so please excuse some errors from my side.

-Second: I'm not a native english speaker ( I speak Swiss German or German), so you might find some spelling mistakes.

THANKS

Now to my problem:

I recently swapped my Mainboard from an Asus Maximus Gene 6 to a Gene 7. (the old one was faulty otherwise the swapp whould be unnecessary)

So I rebuilt my system and bootet up. The mouse and keyboard whould shortly light up and then shut back down again. Bootet into Windows the mouse and keyboard wont work. I thought that the old drivers weren't supporting the USB hubs, but I can't install drivers from the internet nor from the disk that they give you with the board since my mouse and my keyboard aren't working.

I thank in advance for some suggestions ;)

Welcome to the forum. Also, your English is pretty good.

If you've been trying USB 3 ports, try USB 2. It's generally better for compatibility.

What are your full computer setup specifications?

Thanks! I asked a friend and he also suggested to use the USB 2 ports. So I did but with no results.

I have my whole build in written in my Profile. Do I have to activate something so people can see in my posts?

It wasn't there when I wrote the post. That's all I know.

Sig under construction.

Going to try that tomorrow. But that whould suck if it was defective. Just got it because I sent my old one back to Asus (audio defective). Well, i thought I could put my ssd into my friends pc and download the driver files over his rig. Whould that work?

That is a little problematic, because you could do that and place the driver into your SSD yes, but you cannot install it on your OS. I guess you would be connecting your SSD as a second storage device on another PC uh?, If you run your Windows SSD as a main drive on another PC with different MB/Chipset the OS will detect it and will try to "update" the already installed drivers to the "new" ones and possibly making it worse

I really recommend you to try with another set of pheripherals and try what i wrote above.

Wish you all the lucks and i hope your MB is not defective, that would suck really hard

Thanks! I borrowed an old PS2 Mouse from my school. It worked flawlessly! I just need to update the drivers from the cd to new ones, but for now it works.

Thats great! I hope everything its ok once you update the drivers, if thats not the case your MB could still be the problem, but that will surely fix it.
