Hey all, narrowed my choices down to three monitors: the Asus PB278Q, PB287Q and PG278Q. All three are excellent monitors from what I've heard. I've currently got a GTX 980, and will probably not be going into SLI, so for now, until another newer, viable NVIDIA card comes out, its all that I will be using. From what I've read, a 980 should tackle most high end games @1440P at around 60FPS~ sometimes higher, sometimes lower (this is where G-SYNC shines I assume). I've noticed that I really do get lots of motion sickness when I play games with V-SYNC off, and if I play with V-SYNC on and the frame rate dips, I experience the same nausea inducing affect~ I assume the benefits of G-SYNC should eliminate this. So now I'm wondering, should I rather grab a 4K monitor, and downscale/run games @lower settings for the time being until more powerful single GPU solutions become available in the coming years, or should I grab the G-SYNC panel and experience the magic of G-SYNC for now, and as more powerful GPU solutions become available, be able to reach that sweet spot of 144HZ, OR, grab the PB278Q for its beautiful IPS picture quality, and end up either replacing it or getting another panel in a few years time?- I want to know what you all think. I just read about the new Asus 27" IPS 1440P panel with adaptive sync (AMD FreeSync, I believe), but unfortunately I won't be going AMD any day soon thanks to the scorching 40 degree summers here in Australia that, in combination with Radeon cards, would probably light a fire in my home! :)

How are you experiencing motion sickness? That shouldn't occur with any framerate at all in a game if it's consistent.

V-Sync doesn't change that.

It has most likely another cause.

I would go for the ROG Swift right now or wait for any good 2560x1440 144HZ IPS panel.

There are no "consistent" framerate in games!!!

Are you NEW to this stuff?

@ op.

Yes, make sure you have a working gsync/freesync system and as high refreshrate as you  can get and you will have a good time and no motion sickness

i really HATE TN myself, but for someone with motion sickness issues, i would actually recommend that over an IPS, it should ghost a little less in general.... basically the ROG SWIFT is what you want

And i would suggest you always turn down setting enough to get around 100 fps average for everything.

Me being new? Are you insulting me.

A common range of framerates without too big drops can't cause you motion sickness, no matter if v-sync is on or off.

Thanks very much man! Just needed someone to concretely support what I was thinking :)

I'm guessing its mostly frame rate hitches, or stutters. Usually I'm fine, its just if the game chugs a bit, then I tend to start to feel sick. If I'm playing smoothly consistently its usually fine
