i am putting an ssd in my new build, can i use 2 of them at 120gb each as 1 240gb ssd?

 

i am new with ssd drives.

[ I7-4770K ][ Gigabyte GA-Z87-UD3H ][ Corsair Dominator Platinum 16gb ][ Corsair Carbide 300R ][ Corsair HX850 ][ Gigabyte Gtx 770 ]


[ Samsung 840 Series 500gb SSD ][ Bitfenix Spectre Pro (Blue LED) + Bitfenix Recon Fan Controller ]

yes its the same idea as a traditional drive, when you raid them it will be 120x2 leaving you with a partition on the 240gb drive of 120gb give or take a bit

what raid do i use for this?

depends on what your motherboard supports, most boards use either marvell or intel, just make sure the drives are plugged into and running off the same chipset when you enable raid

im using the Asus Sabertooth Z77, i dont know much about raid

im using the Asus Sabertooth Z77, i dont know much about raid

Ok there are many guide online, the sata connectors on the board are color coded just look in your manual for which ones are the 6gb/s ports and plug both ssd's into those ports after that lookup a guide on setting up raid, its pretty straight forward and i think with the sabertooth while its posting you have to press ctrl and i though i could be wrong as its been a while since i used a sabertooth
