Intel i7 4790k

Would an Intel i7 4790k be powerful enough to play a video game and stream it at the same time using OBS to Twitch at 720 resolution? I'd like to stream games like FF:ARR and H1Z1, etc...

I'm worried about how much additional resources OBS drains whilst streaming.

Oh yes it definitely has enough power.

An i5-4690k probably will be enough as well.

I stream occasionally,  I have an i5-4670k OC'd to 4Ghz,  I run it capped at 120 FPS Tried 720 and 1080.. Both work fine.. although Twitch sucks with it's compression and such.

Basically the only problem I've ever noticed is my FPS taking a dive, Nothing unplayable, aka to about 140 FPS on CSGO max settings at 1080p with a second monitor running.

You can check out my specs(link in signature) if you want.. But the i7-4790k Should be more than plenty if not overkill for streaming.

Oh yeah, I also run OBS with it allowed to have as much CPU power as it wants and still run both the game and stream w/o any issues.

EDIT: Here's proof of my CPU doing fine.. I was actually changing OBS Settings.  http://www.twitch.tv/doctorsharpy/b/610575055  You'll actually notice more so that OBS settings are very particular with twitch

And I'm not promoting my stream in anyway, could honestly careless.  I just have this video because I have it set to save broadcasts.

Don't mind my friend talking, I had my mic muted on OBS and was in Teamspeak.  He sounds like he's talking to himself because of this.

And Don't mind my name, was screwing with a friend who had a weird name.  explaining my weird name on GO.

I feel you, I would've bought an i7 myself had I had enough money at the time lol.

What socket is the i7 4790k?

1150 Haswell I believe.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Do you like your ASUS Maximus VII Formula? Was it a good purchase?

Always liked ASUS boards, love its looks and the fact that it has a waterblock included... other than that...very expensive for what you get (but for me personally, it was still worth it, as I was well aware of what I was doing). For pure price/performance... forget it. Unless you fall in love with it, it's probably not the right board for you.

I'm still not pushing my rig yet (still a couple of things missing to get my water cooling loop up and running again - e.g. been waiting for the GPU for a month now), but so far it seems to work just fine.
