Hello!

So I have been looking into upgrading my GPU and my budget is around £200 ($300).

My current PC specs are:

CPU: i7 4790K

RAM: Vengance Pro 8GB RAM

GPU: Radeon HD 7750

MOBO: Asus Maximus VII Hero

PSU: Corsair CX 600

MONITOR: DELL U2414H (1080p @ 60Hz)

So as you can probably see my graphics card is the bottleneck. I've been looking into Sapphire AMD r9 290 TRIX Overclocked . It is available for around £215 ($325) at amazon : http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00HFA44YQ/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d1_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-5&pf_rd_r=0PMDAG3XZ0ZX78S53PD1&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=455333147&pf_rd_i=468294

So my questions are:

1. Do I need to upgrade my PSU?

2. Should I wait for r9 3xx. Will I get the same (or better) value for money from the newer cards?

PS: Im looking to future proof my build for atleast 2 years.

GTX 970, slightly over budget ($30~) but miles ahead of the nearest GPUs, unless you'd rather look at the R9 280x / R9 290.

970 would require no PSU upgrade and will future-proof (if you want to use that word at least) for quite some time.

A 290 will be fine with a 600W psu. No need to upgrade. Also, not worth waiting for the 3xx series, we have no clues on when it's coming out, how strong it will be, or what prices will look like.

If you think you can find a Gtx 970 within your budget, that's a better option, in my opinion.. But the 290 is just as good.

Ah thanks. Im willing to go £50 over my budget if I dont have to buy a PSU. Also Do you think the prices of 970 would come down when AMD release their new cards next month?

Only if the cards that perform as good are cheaper, or if the cards that perform better cost just as much.

However, I don't think it will go down THAT much, if at all. Maybe a 10£, but that's it.
