So my computer has been acting strange. So it is a Cyberpowerpc (I didn't have time to make it) and it does have the terrible psu. I have had it for around 5 months now and around 1 or 2 times a week it brings me to a white pixelated screen with purplish pixels over my screen. I don't think much of it as I just need to restart my computer and it will work fine. So I just bought Far Cry 4 and I can run it on Ultra because of the GTX 970 on it and after 10 minutes it just crashes and I have to restart. It is getting annoying because I spent 70$ on it and I can't even play it! I've been searching everywhere for a solution so I don't think it Far Cry 4. When I do restart it sometimes it says my Nvidia Kernal Mode crashed and was successfully recovered. I searched for fixes for that and none of them seemed to work. The only one that sort of worked was when I lowered my memory clock speed on my gpu. It worked for about 4 hours and crashed. I am starting to think it is the psu because it might not be giving the gpu enough power. I am pretty new to the computer stuff but I do get it. I have never had any overheating issues with my CPU and GPU so it isn't that. Any suggestions on how I should fix it or what the problem is? Thanks!

Here's my specs:

CPU: Intel Core I7 4790k

GPU: MSI GTX 970

Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC Mate

CPU Cooler: Came with the Cyberpower

PSU: Crappy Cyberpower one

HDD: 2TB 7200 RPM (from Toshiba)

Case; Azza

Try reinstalling your GPU Drivers. Or Updating them.

What PSU do you have, and how many watts is it? Also, have you overclocked anything in your computer/did the computer come overclocked?

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

when you say cyberpower one, do you mean a generic? Or do you mean some off brand you have never heard of before? Not all of the off brand ones are terrible. I picked an AZZA titan power supply which was of superflower OEM and superflower is right there with seasonic.

Never heard of the brand before, I have to look around the psu to find the name. it is ATNG

Xtremegear 600W and I have never overclocked it

Never heard of Xtremegear before so I'm not sure how reliable their power supplies are, but 600W should be more than enough to power your system - assuming that it's actually drawing 600W from the wall.

It must be something else in your system. Try stress testing the different components you can one by one (CPU, GPU, RAM, etc.) and see if they're stable. Because of what you said of the white screen with purplish pixels, this sounds to me like a GPU issue. Also just wondering, is this an issue just in Far Cry 4, or are other games unplayable as well?

AZZA is the same brand your case is made for. Titan is the type of power supply. And If it's a 600w I highly doubt it's the power supply. Even if it's the crappiest power supply in the world it should be able to handle 200w if it's a 600w 80+

I'll try stressing the parts later. It is only in Far Cry 4.

I did a stress test with Prime95 and Furmark and my CPU stayed at around 50 - 60 degrees. My GPU stayed around 70 - 74 degrees but I was a little worried when my GPU temperatures would slowly go up overtime and the fans would only stay at around 50%. Like I said I am new to this so this could be normal but I might as well tell you.

Those temperatures are perfectly normal. The reason the temperatures slowly increase over time is because it takes a little while for the graphics card to conduct heat throughout the entire heatsink.

If you can, try throwing in another graphics card and see if that runs Far Cry 4.

Ok, good. As for the graphics card I would if I could because my old computer's graphics card is ancient and broken
