Wikipedia says that a 6 Pin connector (= 2x 12Volt) can provide 75W of current and a 8 Pin connector (=3x 12Volt) can provide 150W of current. This would mean that the Ampere have to be higher on the 8 Pin connector. On the other hand AMD says, that two 8 Pin connectors provide 50 Ampere (50*12 = 600W!!!!). Long story short, I am confused.  :huh:  :wacko:  :(

Theoretically you could push 600W / 50A over a single 8pin connector (with a single rail PSU). The problem is that the circuitry on either end PSU and GPU has to be strong enough to handle it hence why there is usually multiple connectors.

Thats just the limit of the official specification... Not the actual physical limit.

Like @SuperPug said, it's the official specification. The physical limit is a lot higher. AMD's R9 295X2 goes outside of that specification.
