i have a eyefinity setup with 3x1080p monitors and one 1080p peripheral monitor.

the monitors in the eyefinity group are all hdmi monitors and the peripheral monitor is dvi. It is working with three monitors but last week when I

was seting up my peripheral monitor it didn't work but windows did recognise it but i couldn't activate it

I could only have three monitors active at the same time. so googled around and found these active adapters

.

My question is if i will need a active adapter for every monitor or does i only need one to the displayport output??

if I only need one for the displayport output,

does it matter if the displayport output is used in the eyefinity group or to the peripheral monitor??

What card are you using? I've found that lower-end and older AMD/ATI cards are often limited to 2-3 monitors. Also, sometimes this limit is also just set on DVI/HDMI monitors and you can hook up more displays via displayport.

HDMI - HDMI (Monitor 1)

DVI-HDMI Adapter - HDMI (Monitor 2)

DP-HDMI Active Adapter - HDMI (Monitor 3)

DVI - DVI peripheral monitor

This is how I would do it.

You can run eyefinity without DP now So you can use both DVI and HDMI ports but you would require more adapters for that...

Edit: I believe you can run six screens off that card with a DP hub.

if all your screens have DVI input types. otherwise no.
R9 290X should be able to output HDMI DVI and DVI at the same time.

it is not. the thing that they have changed from last gen cards is that you don't need a active adapter if you are using triple monitor eyefinity, but one of the monitors have to be connected to the displayport out put
