EVOLVE [Closed Beta] - Benchmarks & MiniReview

Think Left 4 Dead 2, but with way bigger 'zombies'.

So after the 22.5GB Install, I decided to play around with this game that randomly appeared in my Inventory, EVOLVE reminds me slightly of a mix between things like League of Legends and TeamFortress 2, that's just my opinion though -- Don't quote me on it.

Anyway just putting this as a prerequisite, It's not my kind-of-game, MOBAs just aren't my thing but it looks like it has promise, and I might actually pick this game up once my Closed Beta expires - from what they're promising in their future game modes, it looks like easily one of the better games that'll be coming out this year.

The Above Benchmarks were run using a GTX980 (At 1300Mhz) with an i7-4790k (4.8Ghz) and 16GB of Ram. The benchmarks were run from the start of the tutorial through to the end of tutorial (around 10minutes long) from the Hunter team. While the 4k Benchmarks may be deemed bad, the dip was when fighting the main monster, but kept at 29-33 for 90% of the game.

Here is an image of some of the Gameplay (4k Screenshot - resized, Fraps FPS counter visible in the corner).

I'm not IGN or anything, but despite this not being my forte of a game. It's really quite an enjoyable Hack'n'slash MOBA game.

I'd rate it about a 63/100.

Hope you enjoy this longer-than-I-planned-it-to-be Mini review / Benchmarks. Anyone else here a Closed Beta participant or a Pre-orderer? I wish more games did this [take not Ubisoft!].

  • 2 weeks later...

this is nothing like MOBA.  This game is more like Left 4 Dead but instead of fighting hordes of zombies, you fight one big ass monster.  Well, it is from the same developer afterall.

I've played in the alpha and beta.  I would say the monster is hard to use.  It's hard to kill the humans until you hit stage 3, so you have to rush to evolve as fast as you can.  You also have to target the healer first or else you'll have a hard time.
