Hello all,

My friend has been itching to build himself a PC for a few months, and finally has a decent budget of $1500... The one problem is that he is literally the biggest AMD fanboy... He has been through a few gaming laptops all sporting AMD mobile CPU and GPU's, claims he loves them, and figured he wants to build his desktop based on an FX CPU and AMD GPU. I've been trying to convince him to go with an intel option for obvious reasons, but he's being stubborn. I'm wondering if I should even help him out by making him an AMD build on PCpartpicker, even though I already know his systemcould be much better by choosing an intel equivalent. It really is sad to think that he could be spending his money wiser... but with that all said, what would you guys recommend as an all AMD build?

Thanks

Let him go AMD then, and when he wonders why your Intel build preforms better, explain to him why.

At this budget all I can say is please no, Why whould you get an AMD when you can get a way more powerfull Intel at that budget. But if he won't listen to you just let him buy AMD and let him cry in a year or two.

I don't even feel like helping him because to be honest, I feel bad about it... I don't want to seem like a dick about it to him I just don't really want to get involved in a waste of money and have him blame it on me... I'm just thinking I should probably help him out anyways... idk  :P

Yep I would have the same feeling just tell him to get Intel and say it's a waste of money.

find out the hard way AMD fans but still loyal

Guess so  :D

If he won't listen let him find out the hard way and stop helping him.

And I still want to help him, he's one of my better friends... Anyways FX 9590 and 290X? Or 8350 and dual 290's? Not sure yet

If he's going AMD, I advise him not to go beyond an 8350...

or wait for Zen...

both GPU would get better fram rates with an i5 under it but out of the 2.

8350 and 290x, 9590 is just the 8350 overclocked and requires a 120MM AIO to cool it. plus i'm not actually sure which boards actually support they TWD.
