I have 2 Dell U21713HM's which I use for editing photos and video. I want to add a smaller 3rd auxilary display for email, performance monitors, etc., but i'm having trouble finding a stand that will support a 2 + 1 configuration.

Are there any 2+1 stands that support 2 27" monitors + an auxilary display on top or am going to have mount an arm and put it over, or just settle for 3 horizontals and buy another U2713HM?

You can always buy a decent VESA stand that supports pivot for the 3rd display (I think that's what you wanted, right?). Multi-monitor stands are usually pretty expensive, just keeping the normal stand that comes with your 2 27'' monitors and getting an aftermarket VESA stand for the third would be the most cost-effective.

edit: nvm, you said you wanted it on top.... Sorry, didn't catch that. Yes, mounting an arm on the wall or from the ceiling would work though. If you want ONE stand for all, look at ergotron. They make some really high-quality stuff and you should find something that suits your needs. Something like this perhaps: http://www.ergotron.com/ProductsDetails/tabid/65/PRDID/355/language/en-US/Default.aspx

I emailed Ergotron a few months ago about it. The only 2 + 1 stand they sell supports to 24" monitors on the bottom. Seeing how the 27's are slightly too big to fit, it wouldnt work. The did suggest I use the custom stand they worked on with WSGF, but that one supports 3 27" and 1 27" on top.

The only reason I haven't wall mounted a smaller monitor with a boom arm yet is because I have a painting hanging on the wall behind my monitors. May have to relocate the painting.

Almost had what I wanted too. They have a 2 + 2 stand for larger monitors. I may check it out, although I would prefer the 2+1 if possible.
