Problem With Multiple Monitors Plugged in

I recently bought an ASUS PB287Q 4K monitor which I love to pieces, but for some reason when I plug my 2 1080p monitors in as well, the framerate when I launch a game is abismal, even on loading the game. I bought a 970 with the monitor. Any ideas what it could be?

I'm only loading the game on the 4k monitor, just for some reason having the two 1080p monitors plugged in makes it run awfully, it didn't actually happen the first time, only after I restarted.

try restarting again?

if not you may need a second car for those 2 monitors

which part

(even with sli)?

I believe you have to plug all the monitors in the top gpu regardless of multi-gpu solutions. Or maybe I'm wrong and my whole life has been a lie O.o
