Windows defaulting mic volume

So windows 8.1 and 7 both have been lowering my mic volume in widows to 5% but only when a launch Counter Strike GO. I have no idea why this is, it's not source games because CS Source and Insurgency don't do it only counter strike GO.

I'm using a Zalman ZM Mic 1 and the realtek driver version is realtek 1.0.64.10, the newest I can get with my old motherboard.

DId, turned out that CSGO in one of the newer updates changed around the config.cfg file and the volume mixer settings where changed from 1=100% to .05=5%.

Hi,

Its kind of feature not a bug..!!

Windows 7 automatically lowers speaker volume when it detects communication activity (A microphone-enabled game for example). You can turn this off though.

  • Navigate to:

Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound -> Audio properties -> Communications tab

  • Select Do Nothing from the dropdown box. Apply & OK.

If you use skype there is an option in the settings called "Automatically Adjust Microphone Settings" Make sure that is disabled.
