Hello everybody,

So the other day my power shut off unexpectedly and my computer was shut off. I went to start it back up again and it loaded to my desktop and then crashed. No blue screen, it just went black and poof  my computer shut off and didn't even try to reboot. It does this every time I turn it on and I have tried the hard drive in different computers concluding that it does it for all of them. It does however boot into windows 7 safe mode.

So I went out and purchased an intel 530 SSD and windows 8.1 and getting home once realizing that I purchased the Windows 8.1 upgrade.  :(

At this point, I am going through old hard drives seeing which OS they are running and if they would be able to transfer over so that I can upgrade.

I was wondering if there is a way to install the upgrade possibly through windows 7 safe mode or if I there is a way around installing windows 8 by itself. Any help is appreciated!  :D

I managed to get the hard drive working again but now I am at the point of putting the OS onto the SSD. Intel Data Migration Tool isn't working out the best for me considering the fact that it is not detecting the SSD. Does anyone know of how to get it to work or a reliable program that will do the same thing? Thanks!
