My friend wants a PC after working with macbooks for the last couple years (finally). He asked me to configure it and only gave me a few rules:

- as cheap as possible

- has to have an i7

- has to be able to play Sims 3 and future Generations

- needs 32Gb of RAM

He will be using it to edit videos and work in photoshop, alongside a little bit of gaming.

Here is what I came up with:

Intel Core i7-3770

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 650Ti BOOST 2GB

Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 32GB CL10 Kit

Seagate Barracuda® 3TB

Samsung SSD 840 Series 250GB

Microsoft Windows 8 Pro

Corsair TX 650W PSU

ASUS DRW-24B5ST

Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl Vifter

Any thoughts? He won't overclock btw.

-vT

5.1GHz 4770k

Intel i7-4770K @ 4.7GHz | Corsair H105 w/ SP120 | Asus Gene VI | 32GB Corsair Vengeance LP | 2x GTX 780Ti| Corsair 750D | OCZ Agility 3 | Samsung 840/850 | Sandisk SSD | 3TB WD RED | Seagate Barracuda 2TB | Corsair RM850 | ASUS PB278Q | SyncMaster 2370HD | SyncMaster P2450

@virtualTune

-switch to a CL9 kit of ram

-either go with a K series processor or back down to a H77,B75,or Q77 chipset.no point in going with an overclocking enabled platform, and then leave out an overclocking enabled processor.

What's the budget? Does he really need 32gigs of ram? Has your friend even tried using up 16gigs of ram?

yes i have talked to him about 16 gigs, but he is really stuck on 32. Maybe it is because I use 32, idk. What H77 board would you recommend then, mvitkun? Also I have no knowledge of any reasonably priced CL9 RAM. Remember we are trying to keep it cheap ;)

at least for gaming.

Adobe will be going from Cuda to OpenGL (which the AMD cards uses) acceleration, which means the AMD card just gor alot more interresting for things other than gaming I think.

Though I dont know when Adobe will be switching (I actually dont know if they are swithing or they are going to be supporting both cuda and OpenGL..?), maybe it will be in CS7, idk.

(Comming soon)
