so traitor post of the day, but hear me out.

trade this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/fwn6Lk (note, 1300 but that's inflated, and retail, some parts from 2012, and graphics cards are a asus 7950, and a sapphire 7970)

For a late 2011 macbook pro+400$. the macbook pro right now is going for 800ish on ebay, but it also has 16 or 32 gigs of ram, and a 240 gig 840 evo

Money wise, itd be a upgrade. performance wise, a downgrade. but I NEVER game on my pc anymore. and Im going off to college. so I need a nicer laptop, such as the macbook.

Now, with the 400$, id either get a console, put it towards my car, or if i want to game for that I can easily buy a external GPU set up, so same game performance at my desk, yet be able to take the laptop to classes. So its a clear and easy choice for me, yet my PC is all cable managed, have custom LEDS in it, and just finished it for Christmas, so hard to give it up.

any advice? am i being stupid? is this really a simple? any help or opinions would be appreciated.

And if anyone knows the user with the macbook pro with a external GPU, please tag him. want his input. thanks!

its a trade with a friend, not buying from a store or anything

you could try offering to trade with someone on craigslist. that's how i got my previous retina macbook before i sold it

ah. Im not 100% of getting rid of my PC, i just need mobility, and he lives less then a mile and a half from me, I want to game on my "old"(current) Pc on triple 1080P monitors. so id still be able to use it for if I really want to PC game on occasion. Im more worried on the money aspect if its a good deal.

in that case, yeah it seems like a good deal. i, personally would use the money for an external gpu

thats what I was thinking. I have a psu and everything, so the adapter would be 250, leaving me 150 for a gpu. for a used one, you can get something decent for close to that for just 1080P gaming. Or can buy 2 more monitors. or get a xbone. Not sure yet. its hard to give up the powerhouse of a 7950/7970 though.

do NOT get an xbone, believe me, i have one. it is very slow and lags even when switching apps. plus 720p 30fps
