Hi!

I'm creating a partslist for someone who wants to learn building, but doesnt really know what to get for the components.

Here is the partslist i have now: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/yfq3Bm

Is there anything i can improve on this?

He's gonna download movies on it (not watch them, he has an apple tv or something for that), play mostly minecraft, but also more heavy games and listen music.

Seems like a pretty decent low budget build... Maybe try to get a R9 270X in there you should be able to get one for around the same price as the R7 265.

Alternatively you could go for a Pentium G3258 build.

Core i7 4820K  |  NH-D14 | Rampage IV Extreme | Asus R9 280X DC2T | 8GB G.Skill TridentX | 120GB Samsung 840 | NZXT H440  |  Be quiet! Dark Power Pro 10 650W

It's quite good actually. If that's all you have then it's a good one, although you could replace the R7 265 with an R9 270 and get better performance for the same or less. That's my only nitpick. Don't bother with the 270x, as it's the same card as the 270 just with a higher clock speed, and you can overclock the shit out of the 270 to higher than the stock 270x. Oh, and you also don't need that thermal paste.

However, if you can add in just a tiny bit more money, you can get an i5 which is vastly superior in the CPU department.

It's better than your build by a bit, (better than a G3258 too), but honestly I'd strongly recommend the i5 over this.

i also recommend the i3 build+r9 270, its better for gaming overall.

I would go with the Pentium G3258 if you're not scared to overclock because that thing overclocks like crazy, unless you are using programs that benefit from more cores since it only has two

Broke 14 Year old + No job + Love for Technology = Bad combo :(

I'll show him these builds, thanks!

He has a bit experience with software, but he is very new to hardware, so he probably doesn't want to over clock anything but the GPU
