Hello Everyone!,

I am interestd in purchasing an "Blue Yeti",  This post is about removing echo. Would surrunding my Workstation in sheets make this effect? Also, would making a paper cone, and placing it around the mic, then aiming it at my face make the mic Directional? Or would this cause Echos? Thanks for all your help in Advance everyone!

Walls are your enemies and ceilings, and floors. Basically any solid surface can reflect sound, you need thick material to stop the reflection from happening so thick foam would be better than sheets, sheet would need to be pleated (sp?) and fastened to something. You're basically trying to create a 'vocal booth' but a temporary one. You might find that a 'pop guard' in front of the mic might help a little too. Most 'live rooms' in studios have acoustic material placed all over plus carpeted floors and acoustic tiles on the ceiling.

However if you can get some foam padding around the mic and sit pretty close to it you should find that can take a lot of the 'room' out of the sound.

Yeah 'Pop Guard' / 'Pop Filter' basically it's a piece of fabric pulled across a ring to stop hard P sounds and stop S sounds from being too hissy (yes 'hissy' is a technical term................and I am not a liar honest j/k)

On the subject of the ceiling, that should be fine, they're definitely 'absorb' not 'reflect' however you might get some overhead hum from those flourescent lights, but given that the mic is apparently capable of unidirectional operation that shouldn't be a factor.

Reading up on the mic (yeah shoulda done that sooner) it's capable of Omidriectional, Bidirectional, and Cardioid operation. Basically select cardioid and have some padding material either side to prevent other sound leaking in and you should be fine.
