Which is better and why

The Gigabyte version has a hand-picked chip for better overclocking performance, and is overclocked higher out of the box. Plus, the cooler is much better.

I would get the EVGA SSC personally.

The G1 has been proven time and again to overclock higher. The SSC is pretty recent, doesn't have much time to prove itself yet. Ideally I would think the SSC would be equal to the G1, but that's all theoretical.

If going for EVGA, look at the new SSC cooling variant.

Instead of the SSC I would go for the TFW it has the cooler improvements and less coil noise i ran a stress test for 4 hours and the temp did not go above 65c. Evga also select chips based on there ability to over clock
